• The perfect glass, now with a splash of colour
• The Sense glass is now available in two stunning colours: Pink and Black.
• Both are very light and understated, as to not overshadow the coffee,
• but to still bring a nice mood with a bit of subtle colour.
• Luxurious and thin, now with a bit of extra personality.
Made for coffee
We don’t think that we have to avoid single wall glasses for specialty coffee. The neck provides a comfortable and cool place to grab the glass, even when the body has warm coffee in it. This contact point allows us to enjoy a single wall glass for the most beautiful of coffees. Touch and sight are essential parts of the sensory experience and this glass helps us connect with both. This is also a fantastic glass for ice beverages (flash brew, cold brew, etc).
Like a fine wine glass but for coffee
The Sense Glass is like a fine wine glass – but designed for coffee. Drinking a fine wine from a mug really isn’t the same as from a perfectly crafted crystal glass – so why should coffee be any different? Coffee has more volatile compounds (that make up its aroma, flavour and body) than wine and we think a lightly roasted special coffee deserves more than the trusty old mug. Try one and you’ll never go back!
Designed for sipping
For the best experience using the Sense Glass with coffee, we recommend filling small amounts at one time. This leaves ample room to swirl and capture aromas, while also dropping the coffee to a better drinking temperature quickly. By filling it to full capacity, you will not maximise the experience of using this product.
Great for coffee & more
You can use these beautiful glasses for water, juice, beer, or even some white wine. The shape enhances aromatics and spreads liquid evenly across the pallet, helping you notice even more flavour nuances in the same beverage. This doesn’t have to apply to coffee only.
One size (for Pink and Black glasses)
The Sense Glass Colour Series comes in the 275ml Large size for now. We are considering to bring the small size to this collection too, but for now – we only sell the larger size. For a smaller tasting glass, please check out the small 175ml transparent Sense Glass!
Premium materials
The Sense Glass Colour Series is handmade in Taiwan from lab-grade Borosilicate glass. This glass is strong, light and can withstand quick temperature changes.
The original ceramic small Sense Cup was a favourite amongst customers – but we stopped producing it and started looking for a better manufacturing partner that can meet our standards. The process took longer than expected – we must admit – but we are happy that we kept standards high and patience strong. We found a family-run fine teaware manufacturer in Taiwan that really felt like a great match. The result was better than we expected – a super delicate porcelain cup with a snow white glossy glaze that just lets coffee glide over it.
Fine porcelain
The original Sense Cup was ceramic – which meant it had to be thicker and in general felt quite different. Fine porcelain is a better match for this cup because we can make the walls almost as thin as our glass Sense Glasses – giving a delicate but strong cup that feels just luxurious. The porcelain is translucent (you will see through it slightly) – which we absolutely love.
A wider body and thinner neck
In this cup, we tweaked the shape slightly from the original Sense Cup – which we have adopted in our Sense Glasses too. The body is slightly wider, the neck slightly narrower – thus increasing the aromatic experience by having more room to collect aroma and a smaller window to expel it.
Designed for sipping
This cup is designed to pair with a carafe. The intended use is as a tasting cup – whereby you pour small amounts and sip from it. It is small in size and won’t usually hold a full brew – and it is not meant to. By filling little bits at a time, you have ample space to swirl and smell, amplifying the aromatic experience. By using this cup as intended, it will never be too hot to touch, the neck always providing a cool area go grab, hold, or carry.
In search of the perfect shape
We tested dozens of variations in the search for the perfect form. Delightful to hold, extremely enjoyable to drink from, and optimised for the perfect sensory experience. The wine glass-like body with steep angles help collect and concentrate aroma in a central point. The wide mouth positions your nose right in the middle of this, while also spreading liquid evenly across your palate when you drink.
Amplify the senses
This cup is designed to heighten the sensory experience while drinking specialty coffee. Smell, sight, touch, taste – all amplified by this shape, material, and colour. With this cup you will taste more, smell more, and experience more while enjoying your favourite specialty coffee.
Philosophy
The wine glass-like body has steep angles that helps collect and concentrate aroma. The wide mouth positions your nose right in the middle of this aroma, while also spreading liquid evenly across your palette.

The new kid on the block
The Big Boy is a brand new brewer from OREA that brings a lot of what people love in our smaller brewers to much bigger volumes of coffee.
For two or more
The Big Boy is made for big brews, with an optimal dose range of 40g-60g of coffee for 600ml to 1 litre. You can go as low as 32g or as high as 80g with the right recipe, but we recommend to keep pours big (200ml+ per pour) for optimal performance. So if you brew lower quantities, grind finer and use bigger pours. The brewers come with guides in the box for recipes for two, three, or more people.
Unclogable design
The Big Boy has a unique bottom design that uses a series of tall teeth/ridges to hold the paper up perfectly straight and always allow for airflow under the bed. The brewer itself will not clog (stop dripping due to suction/etc) – but if you grind too fine or if your grinder is not very good in general, the paper filter itself may clog. Some coffees will naturally drain slower than others as they provide different resistance to water, based on processing method, roast style, etc. However – the device itself will not get in the way, providing a huge 8cm opening at the bottom through the use of the ridges. In addition, there is a big exit hole in the middle that will always keep the coffee flowing.
Big, brutal, but beautiful
This is definitely our most brutal design. It’s big, toothy, aggressive – a bit of a departure from our normal design language. But we love it – because the form really follows the function here. This brutal toothy design is also super-optimised and contributes to the great performance under big volumes. It also leads to its consistency. What you will notice is that while the brewer is big and brutal, it drips gentle drops – it is really beautiful to see. We hope you will love it!
Brew for 2 or more in 3-4 minutes
With the right recipes and for most coffees, you can brew 600ml to 1 litre in about 3-4 minutes. You can push this if you use the Negotiator system along with a fast paper like the Sibarist FAST. You can also push it by manipulating grind size and pouring volume – it really depends what you are looking for. This brewer is – like all of our brewers – very flexible. But like all of them, you can also keep it simple, use our wave filters and the simple recipes we include in the box.
What the batch?
In specialty coffee, some people are a bit too snobby. There’s too much nonsense around the idea that brewing bigger size brews can’t taste great. Part of this is because the devices we have now aren’t so good at it – creating a myth that only brewing 12g can yield tasty coffee in the cup. We approached this project with a totally open mind – designing a big brewer for big brews rather than trying to adapt an existing one for more volume.
Batch sizes without the batchy taste
Brew bigger batches with increased clarity and sweetness. Batch is known for tasting batchy – it’s kind of its own thing. What we wanted was to scale up the taste profile of the V3 and we think we managed to get as close as one can get. We want the option to brew for more people, quicker – but we don’t want the stewed batchy taste. Because we recreate a lot of the dynamics from our smaller brewers in the bigger, wide bed, you can expect similar results in the cup. Obviously when you brew bigger quantities you can’t be as precise in your pouring, agitation, etc – so it’s never going to be perfectly equivalent. This is the closest you’ll get to that perfect one cup brew but in higher volumes.
Compatible with our flat papers and the Negotiator
For those that enjoy more paper options, the Big Boy is compatible with all of our Large/185 flat papers when using the Big Boy Negotiator tool. This is a simple way to insert a FAST Sibarist paper, the new Type C – Clarity paper, or our classic Type G flat paper. Experiment with faster brew times, finer grinds and different cup profiles while creating more space in the brewer with a super-precise tight fit of the paper to the brewer walls. Due to the design of the brewer, you will always have fast flowing brews even when using this method.
Who is the Big Boy Brewer for?
If you brew for yourself and your partner, or flat mates, family or colleagues – this is a great option for you. If you run a cafe and want to offer better-quality batch brew or to brew multiple filter brews at once with great results – this is a great option for you. If you’re brewing at events – this is a great option for you. If you just like to brew one time per day and take the coffee with you in a flask – this is a great option for you. This brewer is for anyone that wants to make a tasty bigger batch, with low effort and consistency.
When we were making the Big Boy Brewer we tested a lot of “batch brewer” papers and did not find any that we quite liked. Usually they are very thin and slow – forcing you to grind super coarse to have any reasonable performance. At the same time, we were in the process of developing our own wave-shaped paper for the OREA Brewer V3 with some fantastic results. We decided to scale up this paper and make it available for the Big Boy too – which is great news for al
A two year search
Many people have asked us for our own wave-shaped paper filter since we got started, but truthfully, it was always hard to find something better than what we could find on the market. As such, we kept searching rather than releasing something sub-standard. A two year search has yielded a great result as we finally were able to finally bring the best paper option for this shape of filter – we hope you will love it.
Thick, but porous
The paper construction is quite thick but also porous, which helps improve performance compared to other basket batch filters. The size is quite unique to the Big Boy brewer, with its 8cm flat bottom.
Clean results, without papery taste
In the cup, you will have superior clarity but no papery taste – which was very important for us. A high quality paper stock from Japan provides the basis for the superior results of this paper compared to other options on the market.
Plug & play
We know we have a lot of filter options for our brewers, including the flat papers and Negotiator system – but we want to provide plug and play simple options too. The wave paper for the Big Boy is the simplest filter method allowing you to just grab one, throw it in, and start brewing. If you want to expand and test many paper styles – for faster or higher extraction brews, we’ve got your back too with the Negotiator system. If you just want something simple, then this wave paper is for you.
Fast but not the fastest option
This paper is fast, but not the fastest option we have for this brewer. If you want to brew quicker and grind finer, we recommend using the Negotiator and the Sibarist FAST Flat papers.
This paper is really a triumph for us. A great replacement for the trusty (and somewhat rusty) Kalita Wave paper that our brewers were designed to use initially – with the same brew times but much cleaner, more transparent results. A premium paper stock from Japan is the basis of our new wave-shaped paper with superior results at comparable prices. We know this is what all manufacturers say about their own paper – but we really mean it. We have tested them all and this is the best option – period.

The paper construction is quite thick but also porous, which helps improve performance compared to alternatives. We didn’t like this paper in a flat format, but loved it in a wave shape – where its properties really shine.
Clean results, without papery taste
In the cup, you will have superior clarity but no papery taste – which was very important for us. This means less need for wasting hot water in pre-wetting and a more delicious cup of coffee.

Compatible with all except the Big Boy
This paper works in the V3, V3 MK2, Glass Series OPEN, V4 Narrow & V4 Wide. The only brewer this paper is not compatible with is the Big Boy, which has its own wave-shaped filter.
One size
We currently stock this paper only in the “Large / 185” size. These papers would be compatible with any brewer that works with Kalita Wave 185 filters as this shape and size is equivalent.

Our best V3
The OREA Brewer V3 has become quite iconic – with its unique patented ring design that covers the whole bed while keeping it perfectly flat. The V3 was always loved for its consistency, fast flow rate and unique cup profile. But in true OREA style – we did not stop there, always searching for simple ways to improve this much-loved brewer.
Beautifully toothy
We tested a lot of different design changes to improve performance without sacrificing what we love about the V3. The best improvement we found came from adding 32 small teeth around the bed of the brewer. These teeth open up 32 little pockets of air that relieve pressure all around the coffee bed and give water some tiny escape paths around the bed (at this point, the water has already gone through the coffee and extracted). The teeth allow us to keep the bed totally flat, which was very important to us – and it helps maintain the unique flavour profile of the V3 in the process.
More consistency
The result of these new teeth is a more consistent drip without clogging, even when using flat papers or fine grinds. It’s immediately obvious in the way it drips, but you really notice it when you brew side-by-side.
More options to explore
With the new interior design – you have a wider range of brewing options. You can push this brewer more with finer grinds, bigger and faster pours and generally play with variations in recipes a lot more. We are excited to make probably the most flexible pour-over brewer out there even more flexible.
From the outside, quite familiar
This looks and feels like a V3 – it’s not drastically different. This is on purpose as we really love the classic V3. On this unit, we use a very coarse texture on the exterior for scratch proofing and durability. The brewer is matte black and truly matte this time.
A new material
While switching manufacturers, we decided to also change the material of the V3. For this unit (and other new units like the Big Boy) we went for a high-impact Polypropylene that is BPA-free and FDA and EU approved for food safety. It is similar in weight and feeling as our original Trogamid material – giving a light, compliant, but durable brewer. Throw it in your bag – drop it on the floor and don’t be afraid to brew on the edge of a cliff – this brewer has your back.
A sweet, well-extracted cup profile
The V3 is known for bringing out sweetness but with great clarity and quality acidity. Due to the design, it tends to produce higher extraction cups with less time and effort, but you can always grind coarser or adjust your recipes to drop tds to the level you enjoy.
Don’t just take our word for it
This brewer is appreciated by folks from around the world. We are a small, independent company without budgets to advertise, play for PR, or buy reviews. We have grown bottom-up and are always floored to see people’s reviews, thoughts, and feedback. We stay small so that we can stay focused – and we really thank all of the people in the videos below for taking the time to share their views with the world!
Only one size
In a departure from what we have done before, we release this new V3 in just the “Large / 185 size”. At the moment we don’t plan to make a small V3 MK2 – unfortunately for those that are big fans of small brewers. This helps us simplify our paper offerings and generally focus on the size that sells a lot better around the world. As we have changed manufacturing partners, we decided to invest our money in different areas rather than a new mould for a small V3 MK2. This doesn’t mean it will never exist, but it does mean that for now we only make one size: the “Large / 185” V3 MK2.
Fast, but not a speed daemon
When is fast too fast? It’s a question we have been asking ourselves a lot. The V3 MK2 does have a faster drawdown than the V3, especially in some situations. But we are not in a race to make “the fastest brewer” with the V3, rather the best. With the MK2, we could have changed more to make it “faster”. But really, we wanted to keep the profile we love and we think this has the right kind of flow restriction and features to give the cup profile and performance we love. 2 to 3 minute brews with great extractions – it really is fast – but we are not racing anyone here, we are after tasty cups, consistency, and ease of use. If you are looking for a true speed daemon, you will enjoy our V4 with the FAST bottom – which is available to pre-order now.
Who is this brewer for?
If you just want a simple, consistent, flexible daily driver that makes a fantastic cup of coffee – this is for you. You mostly brew for one, but sometimes for two. This brewer is a less technical option than our V4 and more budget-friendly, so if you just want a no-fuss, no-compromise daily brewer, grab the V3 MK2 and you won’t regret it one bit.
What’s a Negotiator?
The Negotiator is essentially a model of the inside geometry of our brewers. You can use these tools to fit different types of filters inside the brewer, perfectly respecting the inner geometry. It helps you experience a different way to brew with the OREA Brewer using a lower bypass filter fit to reach higher extractions and explore a different brew method within the same brewing system. This device works together with flat circular papers, like the OREA flat paper Type “G” & Type “C”, or Sibarist FAST flat filter (OREA special edition).
Why do people love it?
By “negotiating” the paper to fit perfectly in the brewer we ensure that more water is able to travel directly downwards through the coffee bed and not around it. This leads to more consistency and better extractions. It’s not just a matter of higher extractions, rather higher quality extractions. By using this method, you also open up the bed more, using more space and opening up more space in the brewer compared to the wave filters. All of this contributes to a unique profile that people love.
Made for the OREA V3, V3 MK2, and the Glass Series OPEN Brewer
This negotiator is designed to work with the OREA V3 (small & large), V3 MK2, and the Glass Series OPEN Brewer. It is also backwards compatible with the OREA V2 (for those that own one).
A great video by Sprometheus
A great video describing some of the ideas behind this project, used in combination with the OREA Brewer.
Brew with minimised bypass
This is not a “zero bypass” solution, rather a way to minimise bypass and ensure more consistency. We prefer this approach as you can still brew quickly but reach higher extractions without much effort and time.
Compatible papers
Besides the flat filters we sell and mention above, you can also use this tool to fit other common filters inside the OREA brewer. We have some videos on how to fit V60 filters and Trapezoid filters too.
A review by Lance Hedrick
We love Lance’s energy and this great video describing some of the ideas behind this project and the V3 Brewer.
Open-Source
The “Negotiator” is an open-source project kindly supported by Lautaro Lucero. You can download the 3D printing files for free and print your own on Thingiverse. The idea behind this project is very much to give the community something to experiment with and explore new ways of brewing with the OREA brewing system.
A review by ARAMSE
One of our favourite YouTube channels is from ARAMSE. Check out this video for some top negotiator tips and quality humour.
Do you have to use the Negotiator in the OREA Brewer?
No – definitely not. We have developed our own wave-shaped paper as well because some folks just prefer a more hassle-free plug-and-play option. We refer to the negotiator as a power-up, rather than a necessity. It’s there if you want to explore and push this brewer further – but there’s no shame in keeping it simple either.
Sophisticated and intentional design
Designed to pair delightfully with the OREA brewers, with plenty of space to swirl the coffee and enjoy enhanced aromatics. There are plenty of carafes out there, but this one is specifically designed to enhance the sensory experience of enjoying specialty coffee. From touch, to sight, to smell – there’s nothing quite like it!
Capacity: 400ml to the neck, but we recommend filling it with maximum 300ml of coffee
Handcrafted from lab-grade Borosilicate glass. The total carafe capacity is 400ml, but we recommend filling with up to 300ml for an optimal experience. This way, you leave plenty of room to have cool areas to touch and better serving usability at lower weights. We would classify this as a “one cup” carafe, or two small cups.
Handcrafted
The Sense Carafe is hand-formed by skilled glass blowers – not moulded. This process gives us more freedom to alter thickness in crucial areas and also gives it the robust, artisanal feel with a delicate twist.
Designed for one serving
This carafe is designed for one serving (200-300ml) and not for more. If you brew bigger quantities, we recommend our Sense Jug (900ml).
A sensory carafe
We wanted to specifically focus on the sensory experience with this product. Every design decision was made with sensory exploration in mind, pairing incredibly well with the rest of the Sense collection. The sensory experience is often overlooked, but we think it’s an extremely important part of the specialty coffee experience. In fact, this carafe uses a similar “neck” design as the Sense Cups – which means that you can even drink from it comfortably.
Experience aroma like never before
There are a lot of carafes out there, but none that really bring aroma to a central point quite like the Sense Carafe. Paired with the OREA brewer and the resulting clarity in the brew, this carafe turns the aromatic experience up a notch (or two).
Designed to pair delightfully with the OREA brewer. The Sense Glass adopts the shape of the original Sense Cup, in a luxurious glass body. A real feeling of high quality, a lightweight and delicate glass made for enjoying the most special coffees.

Two sizes, one beautiful shape
The Sense Glass comes in two sizes: Large (275ml) and Small (175ml). Both are great for sipping filter coffee, while the small glass is also very well suited for espresso. We will leave the choice to you!

The Sense Glass Colour Series is handmade from lab-grade Borosilicate glass. This glass is strong, light and can withstand quick temperature changes.
OREA x Lautaro Lucero
To bring the Sense Cup to life, we partnered with a young up-and-coming Argentinian designer – Lautaro Lucero. He is an Industrial Engineer by trade and has been designing products for coffee for years. We worked together to test many different shapes and sizes to land on this as the perfect shape to pair with the Orea brewer. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we enjoyed the process of making it.
